Yesterday my students and I visited the H.O.R.S.E. farm.  It was fantastic to see the students interacting with the horses.  Each student has chosen a horse to write about this semester and yesterday they were able to meet their horses in person.  Very shortly, students will be writing here about their experiences.  Stay tuned!

  1. This past Thursday I visited the H.O.R.S.E farm with my classmates. It was quite an exciting trip to say the least. Before going to the farm, I had looked at the pictures of all the horses on the website. It was thrilling to finally see these horses up close and in person. To hear Patty tell us the stories of each horse and their journey to recovery was unbelievable. From once being starved and abused horses, they now look so healthy and beautiful. Although I enjoyed seeing all of the horses, I was especially excited to see my horse, Dara. She was great! I went right up to her, pet her, and gave her a carrot. Not only was she kind and gentle, but also very photogenic! I had a terrific time at the farm and learned a lot.

  2. This past Thursday, I had the opportunity to visit the H.O.R.S.E of Connecticut. My class and I were given a tour by the owner of the farm, Patty. We followed Patty around the whole time as she fed the horses their lunch and told us each of their stories. To hear some stories of how they were starved and abused, you wouldn't even be able to tell because they have been taken care of so well. Each of my classmates were asked to check out the website and pick one of the horses that we would like to write about. I chose Folly and I was glad that I had the chance to meet her on Thursday. I was very surprised at how outgoing and friendly she was. I went right up to her and she nudged me and let me pet her face. After the class moved on to the next horse, she walked over for everyone to pet her. One of the volunteers told me that she is a horse they use for the pony rides there at the farm. Overall I had a great time meeting the horses and I look forward to learning more.

  3. Last Thursday I was able to go to the H.O.R.S.E. of Connecticut farm and finally see in person what our class has been talking about so far this semester. It was awesome to finally meet Patty and see all of the horses after only being able to look at their pictures online. After being asked to choose a horse to write about, I decided to choose Dinero. It was nice getting to meet him in person and hear about his story from Patty, as well as all of the other horses. After seeing all of the beautiful horses, I was shocked to find out each's story and how they were abused and starved for so long. You would never be able to tell what these horses have gone through because of how well Patty has taken care of them. Overall it was definitely an experience that I won't forget and I am excited to continue working with Patty and H.O.R.S.E. of CT in the future.

  4. I LOVE DARA!!!! She was so friendly when I went to visit the farm and she was very calm. She let me pet her and even continued to follow me once I stopped. I fed her a piece of a carrot and she LOVED IT! Make sure the pieces aren't too big though, Dara can't eat a full size carrot. Everyone should have a chance to visit the farm. Along with Dara, there are many more amazing horses to see and play with!

  5. Last Thursday I went to visit H.O.R.S.E of Connecticut with my classmates. It was such an exciting experience to see all the horses live in person and hearing the owner Patty tell all the amazing stories about each horse. It was also interesting to see how each horse had its own personality, for example; one horse loved to roll around in the mud, another horse, Dinero, loved to be touched by people and would follow us throughout the trip or as long as he could, and two miniature horses thought they were “sly” and ran to sneak away when actually Patty let them out, it was quite humorous. My horse in particular, Romeo, was quite charming, with his beautiful brown coat, black mane and friendly personality he’ll make you fall in love with him at first sight….after all his name is ROMEO.

  6. Last Thursday I got the opportunity to visit the H.O.R.S.E. of Connecticut farm with my class. It was a great experience and was very informative. Patty, the owner gave us a tour of the farm as she fed all the horses. She told us all their amazing stories, and it was great to see how far they have all come. It was great to see each horse in person, and get a feel of what every day is like taking care of them. Patty does an amazing job; you can tell she really loves what she does. Though I was excited to see all the horses, I was really excited to see the horse I chose, Lacey. She was very friendly, and I was glad I got to meet her in person. I look forward to working with Patty and the H.O.R.S.E of Connecticut!

  7. This past week, I was fortunate enough to visit H.O.R.S.E of CT with my classmates and teacher. We learned all about the horses that are currently residing at the farm, and I have chosen Alabama to blog about! Alabama was a very sweet and playful horse. Patty does a great job with taking care of all the horses and they all seem to have great respect and love for her and are still continuing to find more love from people who are willing to adopt! If you have not been to the farm, I strongly sugguest you get out there to learn about what the organization is all about and how the farm is run. Right now I am creating a video, that I willl post shortly, all about the farm! I look forward to working with Patty, the organization, and most importantly Alabama!

  8. Last Thursday I had the opportunity to visit the H.O.R.S.E of CT farm with my Advertising and Public Relations class. We spent time with each of the 26 horses on the farms and learned a bit about them. Each horse has an extremely interesting, and often heartbreaking, history. H.O.R.S.E of CT has given these horses a second chance at life. Without Patty, many of these horses would have been euthanized. it is her unbelievable dedication and love for this organization and these horses that makes this possible. I chose Bayla to focus on for the semester. Bayla is a beautiful, 17-year-old registered Arabian mare. I look forward to posting about Bayla this semester and hopefully finding a permanent home for her in the near future!

  9. On Thursday February 2nd, I visited the H.O.R.S.E. of Connecticut farm with my public relations advertising class from Sacred Heart University. My fellow classmates and I, (as well as our professor), got to interact with the horses, and meet Patty. This was such a rewarding experience to be able to see these beautiful horses and hear their stories of where they used to be, and how happy they are now. The horse I chose to focus on this semester is Charlie. Charlie is 16 years old, very energetic and gets along with other horses. He is very beautiful to look at and had a jumping career, which ended a few years ago. I look forward to helping out this organization and contributing to these horses getting adopted, especially Charlie!

  10. The past Thursday, my classmates and I visited the H.O.R.S.E. of Connecticut farm. It was such a great experience to be able to interact with the horses, and see how far they have come in their recovery back to health. Patty gave us a tour around the farm and explained each horse to us in detail. She really does such an excellent job taking care of them and providing for them. Without all of her help, the horses would not be where they are today. The horse that I chose for this semester in the class was Breezy. Breezy is a minature horse and so beautiful. I look forward to working with this organization and doing our best we can to help!

  11. I instantly felt the positive energy and good vibes that the animals and volunteers of H.O.R.S.E of Connecticut radiate on given day last Thursday. The mission of this organization is captivating and inspiring, I loved every minute I spent at H.O.R.S.E.This influential organization had dedicated its cause to helping horses that have been abused in so many ways, it is hard for most of us to imagine. Patty is the main coordinator at the farm and does an excellent job with the horses. Patty spends more than half her day feeding and training the horses, her dedication to this cause is truly inspiring. Cooper is a special horse that caught my eye from the first time I saw him. Cooper was a starvation case that was frequently beaten by his owner. He is a handsome pony that loves attention. I am sincerely exited about working with this amazing organization and doing the best I can to help support and further this organization.

  12. Although I was unable to visit the farm with the class, I have only heard and read nothing but great experiences at the farm. Being able to help and be apart of H.O.R.S.E organization is a wonderful opportunity. I give alot of credit to Patty who takes care of the horses while also organizing events and tours. My horse is Sweet Pea. My professor gave me an update about Sweet Pea, and I am glad she is doing well this month. Sweet Pea was able to go on a trail ride with a volunteer this past Saturday. She is enjoying the warm weather, but has been a little competitive with her friend Bronson, which I found funny. I look forward to hearing more about the organization and my horses status soon !
